Kullu, May 28
Three women were killed and nine others injured after a taxi vehicle (Sumo) met with an accident on the Barhai-Bagh-Peej road in Lag Valley near Kullu district headquarters on Thursday, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle carrying 12 passengers reportedly went out of the driver’s control and plunged into a deep gorge. Soon after the accident, local residents from nearby villages rushed to the spot and joined rescue efforts.
On receiving information about the mishap, teams from the police, fire department and health department reached the site and launched relief and rescue operations.
Kullu Superintendent of Police said that the injured persons were shifted to Regional Hospital Kullu for treatment.

The condition of some of the injured is stated to be serious. The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained till the filing of this report.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
