In a tragic road accident, three people, including the Panchayat Pradhan, lost their lives when their car plunged into a deep gorge in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred on Thursday around noon on the Balichauki-Sudharani road near Fagudhar.
The victims have been identified as Tota Ram, aged 50, Udham Ram, aged 47, and Fagaru Ram, aged 68, all residents of Didar village in Balichauki. Among them, Udham Ram held the position of Pradhan of Khalwahan Panchayat, while Tota Ram was his brother.
According to the police, the accident took place as the trio was traveling from Sudharani to Balichauki in an Alto car. The vehicle reportedly slipped off the road and fell into a 500-meter deep gorge, killing all three occupants instantly. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
The steep terrain posed significant challenges for the rescue teams who were dispatched to the scene. It took considerable effort to retrieve the bodies from the gorge. The remains have been transported to Balichowki for post-mortem examination. Following the autopsies, the bodies will be handed over to the families for last rites.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly in Didar village and the surrounding areas. The loss of the Panchayat Pradhan Udham Ram has left a notable void in the community leadership. Local authorities and residents are mourning the untimely demise of the three individuals.
The police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
