Tragedy Strikes as Cloud Burst Claims Life and Injures Three in Kullu
Shimla/Kullu, July 17
In a devastating incident earlier today, a cloud burst near Village Kayas, (Raysan) Tehsil & District Kullu, resulted in the loss of one life and left three individuals injured. The incident occurred at approximately 3:55 AM, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The deceased has been identified as Badal Sharma, son of Ganesh Sharma, hailing from Chansari Village in Bari Padar Tehsil & District Kullu. Sharma tragically lost his life on the spot, succumbing to the sudden and forceful impact of the cloud burst.
The injured victims include Khem Chand, son of Sh. Nanak Chand, from Badogi Village in Nyoli Tehsil & District Kullu, and Suresh Sharma, son of Lais Ram, as well as Kapil, son of Kamlesh Sharma, both from Chansari Village in Bari Padar Tehsil & District Kullu. Their conditions remain serious, and they are currently receiving medical attention.
Local authorities, including the police, swiftly responded to the emergency situation. However, rescue operations were hampered by a blocked road along the way to the incident site. A JCB (earth-moving machinery) has been deployed to clear the obstruction, allowing the rescue team to access the affected area.
The District Administration and the Disaster Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) have been notified of the incident. The district administration will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
In addition to the human casualties, the cloud burst has caused significant damage. The incident resulted in the collapse of one building, while several houses and cowsheds have been damaged. Fortunately, no animals were injured or harmed during the incident.
Furthermore, a road blockage has been reported in the area, causing inconvenience to local residents and commuters. Efforts are underway to clear the blockage and restore normal traffic flow.
The HP-State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) has urged residents and authorities to remain vigilant during the monsoon season and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The unpredictable nature of cloud bursts underscores the importance of preparedness and swift action during such emergencies.
