UNESCO heritage GHNP: Set to transform into a Nature Learning Institute

The World Heritage Great Himalayan National Park is set to be developed into a Nature Learning Institute at the Shairopa center in the Banjar assembly constituency of Kullu district.
In response to a written query raised by Surinder Shourie of the BJP, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri stated that the proposed Nature Learning Institute building is intended to be constructed at the Sairopa Center within the Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
He mentioned that once the necessary formalities related to the building are completed, the construction work will commence. The concept note for the building has already received approval, and a detailed estimate has been prepared and submitted to the Executive Engineer of Forest Engineering Division North Dharmshala for technical approval.
Technical approval for Rs. 83.27 lakh was granted on July 12, 2021. The construction process is currently undergoing administrative and financial approval.
It’s noteworthy that the Great Himalayan National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. This unique natural heritage area spans 754.4 square kilometers in the high reaches of the Himalayas.
