Shimla, Mar 1
Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today grilled Secretary Home and Director General of Police and other officers over the major lapse in the assembly session security breech.
According to a press release issued by the Vidhan Sabha secretariat said that speaker expressed displeasure over the February 27 incident in which Haryana police officers and CRPF personnel entered the assembly premises jumping over the security cordon.
The February 27 incident of security breech was not isolated but recently Dharmshala Tapovan Assembly complex was also knocked by pro-khalistani activists to deface the Assembly gate by Khalistani wall writing.
Expressing regret over the lapses in security arrangements and lack of mutual coordination inside the House during the session, Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that this should not be repeated in future and the security shield of the Legislative Assembly should be made strong and impenetrable.
He said that now times have changed a lot and according to the changing environment and unwanted working style of many people, we need to strengthen the security system in Shimla and Tapovan (Dharamshala).
Speaker said that nowadays, MLAs and eminent people of the society are getting personal threats due to many criminal organizations and mutual rivalries, which needs to be understood today.
Speaker stressed the need that they have to be prepared in advance to counter it and prevent the consequences of the crime. A proper solution has to be found before it happens.
On this occasion, Speaker said that Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly are the supreme institutions of the parliamentary system, providing security to them should be our priority.
He said that latest technology in security arrangements should be there to deal with any untoward situation. He said that whatever security group is deployed in the assembly there should be trained and strong security staff so that they could provide proper security inside and outside the House.
