The water tariff charges have been increased by approximately 10 percent in Shimla MC area. A spokesperson of the SJPNL informed here today that water charges have been revised for area within and outside the Municipal corporation limit of Shimla, through a notification issued by the government of Himachal Pradesh in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section 2 of section 170 of the Himachal Pradesh Municipal corporation act 1994.
He informed that within MC limits the charges slab wise from 0 to 20 kilo litres of water have been revised to Rs 17.55 per kilo litre. Earlier it was Rs 15.95 per kilo litre. Similarly 20 to 30 KL, charges are Rs 30.25 per KL as against Rs 27.50 per KL earlier. Above 30KL the charges are revised to Rs 54.45 per KL. It was Rs 49.50 per KL earlier.
Faulty meter charges have also been revised from Rs 367/- per month to Rs 403/- per month.
In case of a commercial connection the revised charges are Rs 48.40 per KL (upto 20KLs), Rs 76.11 per KL (upto 30KL), Rs 101.16 per KL (30KL to 75KL), Rs 139.15 per KL (Above 75KL). Faulty meter charges have been revised to 7072.45 per month.
Rates for government institutions, hospitals, Dharamshalas and religious places within and outside limits will be Rs 76.23per KL and Rs 7072.45 per month for faulty meter charges.
