Wet weather spell exp from Nov 26 to 28 in Himachal
Shimla, May 25
A wet weather spell, featuring rain in the downstream regions and snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, has been predicted by the Meteorological Office here today. A major spell of rain or snowfall is expected from November 26th to 28th, 2023, predicts the IMD.
The Met Office spokesperson, issuing the forecast and weather advisory for the State of Himachal Pradesh for the next week, stated that two back-to-back Western Disturbances would affect the state from midnight of November 25 till November 28, and another set of disturbances would impact the weather from November 30 onwards.
Rain and snowfall are likely to commence from November 26th to 28th with light intensity and isolated distribution in the high and mid hills, and light to moderate snowfall at isolated places in the mid and high hills of the State.
It is likely that on November 27, light to moderate rain or snow may happen in a few places all over the state. Â A yellow alert for rain, lightning, and thunderstorms has also been issued in isolated places throughout the state, barring Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti districts.
The forecast also predicted light to moderate snow in the higher parts of Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kangra, and Shimla.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees from November 27th.
The State Administration and the public at large are advised to take adequate safety measures in light of the above forecast.
Adequate safety measures should be taken, and exposure during morning and evening hours in hilly areas of the state should be avoided. Disruptions of essential services such as water and electricity, communications, and related services are expected in Kinnaur, Lahul-Spiti, Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, and Kullu. Traffic congestion is very likely in these areas due to expected snowfall. Visibility conditions are likely to decrease on State and National Highways and valleys in hilly regions of the State due to low-level clouds/foggy conditions during this period.
District Administrations in Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti, Kullu, Chamba, and Kangra are advised to keep watch to minimize disruptions of essential services and also monitor tourist movements in view of expected bad weather conditions in Himachal Pradesh from November 26th to 28th, 2023.
In advisories and guidelines issued by the concerned departments for farmers and milk producers, proper livestock care should be ensured to protect them from the cold. Poultry should be fed adequately to maintain normal temperature. The fall in temperature due to precipitation may impact milk production; therefore, farmers are advised to make arrangements for protecting livestock from the cold.
