Shimla, Feb 12
A whistle-blower was assaulted in the hill state. Himachal Pradesh Government came in power with the slogan of Changing System of Governance (Vayvastha Parivartan), but seems, corrupt are becoming more powerful here and inflicting injuries on those who are helping the system (whistleblower).
A whistleblower identified as Pardeep was assaulted by the complainee for registering a complaint against ward members of Lani-Bohrad Panchayat of Shillai, recently.
Pardeep is a whistleblower and has created awareness about various financial crimes in the past. In a video interview posted on Social media, he claimed to have been assaulted with a sharp weapon in front of enquiry team that came to investigate a corruption case.
Smeared in blood he alleged that was attempted to be eliminated by the ward members and two of his relative.
Pardeep said that there was a complaint against ward members for allegedly being indulged in selling of Goverment supply of Cement. In the matter, a team was designated from Nahan to investigate. During checking about 100 bags of cement, only 35 were found in the Panchayat stores which agitated the accused and he assaulted the whistleblower infront of the team. The incidents occurred near Rohnat area of Shilai Subdivision.
Vigilance bureau denies
However, meanwhile Taranjeet Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, SV &ACB, at Nahan has denied the allegation. He has stated that no such complaint was being enquired into by Vigilance police station Nahan.
It is worthwhile to mention here that on September 7, 2018 another whistle-blower blower and RTI activist Kedar Singh Jindan (43) from Bakrash village in Sirmaur District’s under Shillai Subdivision was crushed under a SUV by member of Gram Panchayat.
Jindan also belonged to dalit community and was practising as advocate at the Shimla High Court. Union government recently decided to provide Schedule Tribe status (upper caste) Hatti community.Â
