Shimla, July 25,
A 28-year-old woman, Archana alias Anju, died at Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH), Shimla, less than 24 hours after giving birth via cesarean section. The incident has sparked tension within the hospital premises, with the grieving family alleging medical negligence.
Archana, wife of Ravindat Sharma and a resident of Gadhavag Fagu, underwent a C-section delivery on Thursday at around 11:30 a.m. According to her family, both the mother and the newborn were declared healthy after the procedure.
However, the situation took a tragic turn the following morning. At around 8 a.m. on Friday, hospital staff allegedly instructed the patient to move to another bed. The family claims she was forced to walk despite having recently undergone surgery. They further allege that the exertion led to excessive bleeding, and Archana died shortly afterward.
The incident created a tense atmosphere in the hospital, prompting police to arrive on the scene to maintain order.

Archana, a mother of two, had previously delivered her first child through cesarean as well. While her newborn is still admitted in the hospital, her older child is at home awaiting a mother who will never return.
The family is demanding an inquiry into the incident, raising concerns over post-operative care and handling of patients at the Mother and Child Hospital (KNH), one of the state’s major healthcare centers for women.
