Solan/ Shimla, Feb 26,
In a bid to gain social media fame, a young motorcyclist pushed the limits of recklessness by performing dangerous stunts on the Pinjore-Shimla National Highway near the Barog Tunnel in Solan. The youth, identified as Manjul Pnatu, a resident of Dhadhi Gunsa in Shimla district, was finally caught by the Solan Police Cyber Cell after he uploaded a video of his daredevil acts on Facebook.
The incident came to light during routine cyber patrolling by the Solan Police Cyber Cell on February 25. The team stumbled upon a video posted by Manjul, showcasing him performing high-risk stunts on his motorcycle (HP-10C-0448) near the Shalimar Tunnel on National Highway-05. The video, uploaded on February 24, captured the rider performing breath-taking tricks, endangering not only his own life but also the safety of other commuters and pedestrians.
The police swiftly registered a case against Manjul under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sadar Solan Police Station. Investigations revealed that the accused had been engaging in such dangerous activities for a considerable time. Solan Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Singh, stated that the youth’s actions were not only irresponsible but also a blatant violation of traffic rules. The police have issued a stern warning to all two-wheeler riders, especially the youth, to refrain from such reckless behavior. They emphasized that performing stunts on public roads is not only life-threatening for the rider but also poses a significant danger to other road users.
The police have urged all two-wheeler riders to drive responsibly and avoid being influenced by the lure of social media fame. They also reminded riders to always wear helmets to minimize the risk of injuries in case of accidents. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
The Solan Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring road safety and have warned against any form of reckless behavior on public roads.
