About 34 rain-related incidents took 15 lives, and eight others are missing. These various rain-related mishaps occurred in Mandi, Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, in the past 24 hrs. The state disaster management authority bulletin confirmed that around 350 roads were affected by the landslides, and the power supply was disrupted in 1550 places. Heavy rainfall and landslide affected vehicular traffic on many routes, including Chandigarh Manali National Highway.
In village Kashan of subdivision Gohar of Mandi district, a landslide hit the house of Gram Panchayat Pradhan, and eight-person died under the debris of two houses.
Three died in Village Banet, Muhal Chudana Tehsil Bhattiyat District Chamba, as a house collapsed. The deceased was identified as Chamaru S/o Sh. Dharmu, Ajay S/o Chamaru and Meena Devi W/o Chamaru. In Village Gaggal Khas of Kangra, district one died as the entire village was flooded due to heavy rainfall. Other People were shifted to safer places. The deceased was identified as Balmukand.
Five hundred people were evacuated to a safer place in Halerd village of Jaisinghpur Tehsil of Kangra district as the entire town was flooded due to heavy rainfall.
One person each is missing from Hanogi of Mandi district and Kyoli village of Lambathach under Thunag subdivision of Mandi district.
22 people got stranded on the rooftop after rising of the Beas river above the danger mark in Kheiri of Sujanpur in Hamirpur District. Nineteen people are now rescued. Three cattle also died in the flash flood.
Eleven cattle died, and ten are missing as five cowsheds and 12 houses were damaged. Landslides blocked seven more roads, damaged six vehicles, and one bridge washed away on the Chaki river in the Kangra district.
In Shimla district, a Landslide hit HP Petrol pump at Theog in this incident; four vehicles were damaged.
Meanwhile, the Indian meteorological department has issued an orange and Yellow alert for the next three days in the state.
