Around 150 passengers got stranded on Sunday at Dorni Nallah on Samdhu-Kaza Gramphu route in Lahaul-Spiti district. Of these, 105 were rescued safely this morning, confirmed a State government spokesperson in a press release here today.
A flash flood occurred at Dornii Nallah on the SKG route in Sub Division Lahaul. In this incident, the road was blocked, and around more than 150 passengers got stranded near Chatru and Dorni-mode. A Rescue team comprising Naib Tehsildar Sub Division Keylong, Police and Border Road Organization -94 RCC rushed to the spot, and a rescue operation is under process. The report said 105 passengers were rescued from Chattru by a joint rescue operation by the state Police & district administration.
The police chief of Lahaul Spiti Manav Verma noted that out of 150, 80 have left for Manali, and the remaining have been accommodated in Koksar and Sissu. Another 25 persons (mostly drivers) have remained back in Chhatru with their vehicles. Pertinent to mention that heavy rainfall, landslide and flash floods wreaked havoc in Bilaspur, Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts in the past 24 hrs. Two bridges and seven roads are blocked in nine landslides and flashflood mishaps.
District Emergency Operation Centre Lahaul and Spiti informed an incident of Flash Flood had been reported at Chulling Nullah Udaipur in District Lahaul and Spiti, due to which road is blocked. They also announced that a flash flood occurred seven km ahead on the Mayar valley link route in Sub Division Udaipur, which is blocked.
Another incident of flash flood occurred at Madgrah Nullah (50.474 KM) on Tandi-Udaipur route in Sub Division Udaipur. An incident of the landslide has been reported at Newly Shanshar Marg, Tehsil Sainj, District Kullu, due to which road has been closed for all types of vehicular movement. PWD officials are on the spot to clear the road.
Another has been reported at Village Bahang in Manali, due to which recently constructed two temporary footbridges got washed away, and 30 residential buildings with shops along Beas river had to be vacated. DEOC Kullu said that 03 persons are stuck in the river near 14 Mil in Manali.
Also, an incident of the landslide has been reported Near Santoshi Mata Temple, Tehsil Sharghat and District Bilaspur; in this incident, the road was blocked for heavy vehicles. One PWD JCB is on the spot to clear the road.
