Former Jawali MLA says he cannot praise government when Congress workers’ concerns go unheard
Shimla,Oct 19,
Former Jawali MLA Neeraj Bharti has again criticised the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government, questioning why he should praise the leadership when, according to him, Congress workers’ grievances remain unaddressed.
In remarks reported by News18 Hindi on Monday, Bharti reiterated that he had never indulged in flattery, bringing the issue of worker dissatisfaction back into Himachal Pradesh’s political discourse.
Bharti has repeatedly questioned the government’s functioning. In June 2025, he raised concerns over the handling of party workers’ requests, including transfer-related matters.
The differences escalated in June 2026 when Bharti resigned as vice-president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. The Congress subsequently expelled him for six years, citing alleged indiscipline and anti-party activities.
His latest remarks showcases a recurring question for the ruling party: whether workers who helped bring Congress to power feel adequately heard by the government.
Bharti’s allegations, however, require independent assessment to establish the extent of dissatisfaction and the government’s response.
His confrontation with the party leadership also underlines the tension between public dissent and organisational discipline. While the Congress has taken disciplinary action against him, the question of how workers’ grievances are addressed remains politically relevant.
Whether the latest criticism draws a response from the government or the State Congress leadership remains to be seen.
