Shimla, Aug 19
A tragic incident occurred at the IGMC Blessington Girls Medical Hostel in Lakkar Bazaar when 22-year-old Karan Patial was found dead after reportedly falling from the hostel building. Karan, a resident of Dr. Bhaura Ward No. 4, Palampur, in Kangra district, was pursuing hotel management at Bahara University, Waknaghat.
The fall happened around midnight, and Karan was quickly transported to IGMC Hospital in Ambulance No. 108. Unfortunately, despite immediate medical attention, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Karan’s father, Virendra Patial, is a retired army officer who also served with the Himachal Pradesh Police, retiring as a Head Havildar (HHC).
Police investigations are underway to determine how Karan gained access to the girls’ hostel, with CCTV footage being reviewed to track his movements prior to the incident. This incident has sparked serious concerns about security protocols, especially in light of the recent unexplained death of an MBBS student at a private hospital in Kolkata.
In response, authorities are facing increasing pressure to enhance security measures within educational institutions to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
