Nahan, July 21 (SP Jairath),
A cloudburst in the Giripar area of Sirmaur district tragically claimed the life of 48-year-old Aman Singh, son of Teluram, from Retua village, Panchayat Danda Aanj, Paonta Sahib. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Friday night amid heavy rainfall, causing a nearby drain to flood.
Aman Singh reportedly left his home following the cloudburst and became trapped under heavy debris. His disappearance was immediately reported to the Puruwala police, who initiated a search operation early in the morning. Unfortunately, his body was discovered in the Tons River, five kilometers from his residence.
Retua village, situated in the Shilata forest, has been undergoing extensive tree cutting to construct tractor roads. This deforestation has increased the risk of landslides, worsening the situation.
Rajesh Pal, in charge of the Puruwala police station, confirmed the cloudburst and the recovery of Aman Singh’s body. He mentioned that further action is underway.
