Chirag Bhanu Singh Takes oath as HC Judge; Bhupesh Sharma, Yogesh Jaswal as Additional Judges

Chirag Bhanu Singh on Sunday took oath as a Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, while Bhupesh Sharma and Yogesh Jaswal were sworn in as Additional Judges for a two-year term.
The oath of office was administered by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, in the presence of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh.
The ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the State Health and Family Welfare Minister, sitting judges of the High Court, senior judicial officers, the Registrar General and Chief Secretary, besides members of the High Court Bar Association and other dignitaries.
The ceremony commenced and concluded with the National Song and National Anthem.
Singh graduated from Vallabh Post Graduate College, Mandi, and obtained his law degree from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He enrolled with the High Court Bar Association in 1994 and practised civil, criminal, constitutional and service matters. He also served as Deputy Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh and was a member of the State Bar Council before being appointed Additional District and Sessions Judge in 2007.

During his judicial career, Singh served as District and Sessions Judge, Legal Remembrancer-cum-Principal Secretary (Law), Principal Secretary (Lokayukta) and Human Rights Commission, Director of the State Judicial Academy and OSD to the Chief Justice. He also served twice as Registrar (Judicial-I) in the Supreme Court of India. Before elevation, he was District and Sessions Judge, Kangra at Dharamshala.
Bhupesh Sharma joined the Himachal Pradesh Judicial Service in July 1996 and rose to the Higher Judicial Service, serving as District and Sessions Judge in several districts. He became Registrar General of the High Court in October 2024.
Yogesh Jaswal, who joined judicial service in 1996 after practising law, was promoted to the Higher Judicial Service in 2013. He served as District and Sessions Judge in several districts and also held assignments as Registrar of the High Court, Director of the Judicial Academy and Presiding Officer of the Labour Court-cum-Industrial Tribunal. Before elevation, he was District and Sessions Judge, Sirmaur at Nahan.
