As many as 440 pupils of Himachal who were stranded in war-torn Ukraine have rescued and nine others remain. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in the house today adding that among those remaining, 7 are in Poland and Slovakia and two in Sumi. The two in Sumi are being evacuated to safer locations on the western borders of Ukraine, added Thakur.
Making a suo-moto statement in the assembly on Wednesday. during the 12 day budget session, Thakur while updating the house stated that 441 students have been evacuated after the Russia-Ukraine through special flights by the Indian Government. Thakur said that 8 students who had reached the neighbouring Nation decided to not return to India, are still staying at these locations.
He assured that left out would be brought back to India by special flights, very soon. The Chief Minister said that the Indian government is maintaining regular contact with Ukraine and Russian Government for safe passage to Indian nationals from war conflict nations. The Ministry of External Affairs ensured the safe return of all residents of the state from Ukraine, he added.
