Orange and Yellow alert issued for Himachal Pradesh as heavy rains loom
Shimla, April 18
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an Orange and Yellow alert for the next four days due to the expected wet weather. The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from today until April 22, with mid hills likely to be the most affected.
The Orange alert is in effect for April 18 and 19, while the Yellow alert is in effect for April 20 and 21. The advisory warns that heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms may occur in some places in the plains, low and mid hills on April 18 and 19, which could damage standing crops, fruit plants, and new plantings.

The concerned departments have issued advisories and guidelines, urging farmers to take adequate safety measures to minimize the expected impact of the inclement weather. Growers have been advised to use anti-hail nets over crops and install anti-hail guns wherever possible to protect the horticulture and agriculture productions.
Some places in Solan, Una, Shimla, and Sirmour districts have already experienced light rain and thunderstorms in the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to remain normal in the state.
