“Everester’ Amit Negi from Himachal Pradesh scales World’s deadliest Annapurna peak

Amit Negi, a young civilian mountaineer from Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, has achieved a remarkable feat by conquering the world’s deadliest mountain Annapurna 1 (8091 m) on 16 April 2023. With this success, he has become the first young civilian from Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district to do so.
According to Sudesh Mokta, spokesperson of Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, Amit Negi has made the Nation proud by becoming the first climber from India to win the 2023 summit season. He has earlier hoisted the tricolor on The Everest summit (8848.86m) in 2021 and Kanchenjunga (8,586m) in 2022.

Annapurna is considered to be the world’s tenth highest peak and the most dangerous mountain to climb. On an average, 30 people die out of 100 people who attempt to climb this mountain, compared to a death toll of 13 percent in climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain peak. However, Amit Negi has proven his mettle by scaling this treacherous mountain and achieving a great feat.
With his exceptional mountaineering skills, Amit Negi has brought immense pride to the state of Himachal Pradesh. He has become an inspiration to the youth of the nation who aspire to take up mountaineering as a profession.
