Rainfall likely to continue in Himachal Pradesh

The state of Himachal Pradesh is expected to continue experiencing wet weather in the coming days, according to the latest weather forecast. The synoptic features indicate that the Western Disturbance, now seen as a trough in middle tropospheric levels with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along longitude 68°E to the north of latitude 25°N, is expected to induce a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
The weather outlook for the next five days shows that the low hills/plains region can expect light to moderate rainfall at many places today, followed by light rainfall at isolated places on the 21st and dry weather from the 22nd to the 26th. In the middle hills region, light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places today, followed by light to moderate rainfall at few places on the 21st and light rainfall at isolated places from the 22nd to the 26th. In the high hills region, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is expected at most places today, followed by light to moderate rainfall/snowfall at few places on the 21st and light rainfall/snowfall at isolated places from the 22nd to the 26th.

The weather warning for the next five days indicates that thunderstorm, lightning & hailstorm are likely to occur at isolated places today, which may cause damage to standing crops, fruit plants, and new plantings due to hailstorm. The advisory recommends the use of anti-hail nets over crops and installation of anti-hail guns wherever possible.
The region-wise areas/districts covered by the weather forecast and warning are as follows: high hills – Lahaul & Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba, upper parts of districts of Kullu and Mandi; middle hills – Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, some parts of Chamba (Sihunta, Chowari, and Chamba), most parts of districts of Solan and Sirmaur; low hills/plains – Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, parts of districts of Kangra (Nurpur, Jwala & Dehra), Solan (Nalagarh, Baddi, Arki & Kunihar), and Sirmaur (Nahan & Paonta Sahib).
In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred at most places and light to moderate snowfall at isolated places over higher reaches of the state. There was no large change in minimum temperatures, but there was a marked fall in maximum temperatures during the last 24 hours. The average minimum temperatures were normal, and the maximum temperatures were markedly below normal. The lowest temperature was recorded at Keylong (-0.30°C), and the highest temperature was recorded at Una (33.20°C) yesterday.
Residents and farmers in Himachal Pradesh are advised to follow the advisories and guidelines issued by the concerned departments and take adequate safety measures during the expected thunderstorm, lightning, and hailstorm today.
