CBI searches in Shimla at CPWD and Advance study office
Shimla, Sept 20
According to a media report the CBI team has conducted searches in the CPWD and the Advanced Study office of the Central Government and seized some documents. Though yet unconfirmed by authorised officials, but this action may have been centered around allegations of financial irregularities and rigging in the construction of a tennis court at the Advanced Study Institute.
As per the vernacular media report a tennis court has been built in advance study at a cost of about Rs 52 lakh, whereas only Rs 10 to 15 lakh has been spent on the spot.

News agency in the matter reports that the complaint about this mess reached CBI. Based on this, search was conducted at two different places in Shimla since this morning, which continued till evening.
The agency reported that this was a preliminary search and no FIR has been registered in the matter, so far.
Noteworthy that the Viceregal lodge or the Indian Institute of Advance studies has housed number of Viceroys during British India since the building was made in early 1880s.
After independence the building housed the Rashtrapati Niwas and in 1964 it was named India Institute of Advance studies.
