State ready to probe Kangra businessman alleged ‘ threat to life’ case with ASP rank officers -AG

The Himachal Pradesh Government submitted before the Himachal Pradesh High Court today that it was ready to probe the Businessman alleged ‘ threat to life’ case with an Additional SP rank police officer, as the government is already conducting the probe by a DySP rank police officer.
This statement was made by Advocate General Anup Rattan before the division bench of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua during the hearing on this case on Wednesday.
After the hearing, AG briefed media persons about the facts of the court’s case in his chamber in the high court complex. Rattan stated that he had assured the court that the government is ready to conduct a free and fair probe by the ASP rank officers based on the observations made by the court today.
He said that the government is already conducting a probe by a senior police officer; however, it would appoint ASP level officers soon.
Regarding the High Court’s apprehension of security cover granted to complainant Nishant Kumar Sharma, the government informed the court that two constables were deployed with the complainant, and security cover would be beefed up if found necessary.
He said that the state submitted a copy of the status report after filing FIR today, and the court would review the details of the investigation on the next hearing on December 4. Moreover, more copies of the status report would also be submitted to the court.
He said that SP Kangra pointed out the issue of media reporting regarding the case. However, Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao said that the media could not be restrained from reporting the case. Still, the CJ emphasized that media should report responsibly. Reporting of the court case by the media should be based on the court order and facts in the interest of justice and should not indulge in media trials.
Earlier today, the Advocate General said that during the hearing today, the state apprised the court through the status report that an FIR has been registered by the Kangra police, and now the investigation of the case is going on by DYSP rank officers.
However, the court and complainants were not happy with the police investigation in the case, and the court insisted that at least ASP rank officers should conduct the investigation in this important matter.
Rattan stated that amicus curiae also wanted to seek a response about the FIR lodged against Nishant Kumar Sharma by the DGP in Shimla town. However, the state government said that the FIR was registered in the matter. Still, before having further investigation without filing the status report in this matter, it could not divulge anything so far in the matter.
