Himachal politics heats up over Rs 11000Cr debt accusation
Shimla, Nov 28
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh, has accused the Congress government of dishonesty, claiming that it has accumulated a debt of Rs 11 thousand crores within its first ten months in power, which they are denying. Led by State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, the party supported this claim with data obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
“The present government of Himachal Pradesh of Congress Party is not only expert in telling lies but is also a bundle of lies,” they stated in a media communique.
“ After coming to power on 11 December 2022, the present Congress government has taken a loan of Rs 1500 crore on 19 January 2023, Rs 2000 crore on 16 February, Rs 1500 crore on 16 March and Rs 1700 crore on 24 March,” they stated. Adding, “ Similarly, it has taken a loan of Rs 800 crore on 1st June 2023, Rs 1000 crore on 28th June, Rs 500 crore on 31st August, Rs 1000 crore on 12th October and Rs 800 crore on 19th November 2023. Till now this government has taken a loan of Rs 10800 crore,” claimed the BJP while sighting the RTI information also shared with media. From January to March 2023, this government took a loan of Rs 6700 crore and from March to November 2023, this government took a loan of Rs 4100 crore,” they added.
Noteworthy that the State BJP president Bindal had earlier raised this allegation on the current Congress led State government. However, refuting the allegation, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in a statement had claimed that this government has taken a loan of only Rs 4100/- in this financial year. He had also added that on the contrary the previous State BJP government had taken a loan of 14 thousand crores in the last year of rule.

Dr. Bindal further alleges that the Congress government is misleading the public by denying the debt. He also asserted that the Central Government is providing substantial financial assistance, contradicting the Congress government’s claims of inadequate support.
“ So this information is from their government and we are sending it to them only,” stated Bindal. Adding,” We know that even after this they will lie and will not agree. They are trying to spread this kind of lie, illusion, deception in the society that the Central Government is not providing financial assistance, which is a white lie,” claimed the Saffron party State president.
