Three carcass of a fully grown leopardess and two cubs was recovered under Rampur subdivision under mysterious circumstances due to which wildlife authority is seeking FSL service.
All Three carcass were found in a forest under Rampur subdivision on Friday. District Forest Officer Hardev Negi informed all three leopards were found in an apple orchard in Rampur.
He said that postmortem was done by the vetenary officers of the department on Friday and no physical marks wounds of any kind were found on the bodies of the three dead leopards.
Now the services of FSL Bareilly was summoned to find the cause of death.The reasons for their death could not be ascertained yet.
According to DFO they received information from the villagers that one of these dead cub was writhing in pain for a long time. By the time the department’s team reached the spot, the leopard had died. After this, the bodies of all three leopards were collected and then postmortem was done in Rampur. Their last rites were performed on Friday evening itself.
The forest personnel brought the dead leopards found in Dansa Panchayat of Rampur to Rampur for postmortem.
On the complaint of the forest department, the police have lodged an FIR and intensified the investigation. These include a two and a half year old female leopard and her two cubs who were around 8 months each.
Though the real cause of death is yet to be ascertained but it is clear that they did not die due to hunting. However as per field report 7 nails of one leopard have been found missing. Though the real cause of the leopard’s death will be known after the forensic report.
