In a remarkable display of determination and breaking through gender barriers, three women personnel of the Himachal Pradesh Police Department have made history by becoming ‘Women Buglers’. This significant achievement comes as a testament to their unwavering dedication and the progressive strides taken by the department.
Shivani, Shweta, and Nishu, three constables from the Himachal Pradesh Police, have shattered stereotypes by successfully completing the rigorous 4-month Basic Buglers Course at the Himachal Pradesh Police Training College (HPPT) in Daroh. Their training was not just about mastering the bugle but also about stepping into a traditionally male-dominated field with confidence and prowess.
The trio now proudly serve as buglers in the esteemed Indian Reserve Corps, a role that was previously reserved only for men. Their journey from trainees to buglers stands as a symbol of empowerment and signifies a significant shift towards inclusivity and gender equality within the police force.
This progressive step was made possible by the visionary leadership of Bimal Gupta, Inspector General of Police, who initiated this program during his tenure as Principal at HPPT. It aligns perfectly with the broader vision of the Director General of Police, who aims to encourage and empower women in roles that were conventionally considered exclusive to men.
The induction of women buglers not only breaks stereotypes but also sets a precedent for inclusivity and diversity within law enforcement. It is a beacon of inspiration for young women across the nation who aspire to excel in unexplored territories.
