Shimla, Aug 8,
Starting August 7, 2024, Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla has introduced a new OPD registration process through the Abha card, marking a significant advancement in digital healthcare. This initiative, spearheaded by the hospital’s Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Rahul Rao, aims to align with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’s goal of modernizing healthcare services.
In just two days, 178 OPD registrations have been successfully processed using the Abha card. A dedicated counter has been set up at IGMC to facilitate this new registration method, supporting the government’s vision of a Digital Himachal. Patients are encouraged to download the Abha app from the Play Store or bring their Abha card during visits to IGMC. This transition is expected to not only streamline OPD registration but also digitize health records, enhancing overall efficiency.
Dr. Rao emphasized that under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, health records linked to the Abha card are automatically integrated into the Abha app, saving valuable time and ensuring that patients’ health histories are readily accessible. This development follows the recent discontinuation of the Himcare scheme by the state government, providing a modern solution to meet evolving healthcare needs.
