In response to the devastating cloudbursts that struck Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts on August 1, 2024, resulting in the loss of 55 lives, the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet has unveiled a comprehensive relief package and infrastructure enhancement plan.
Chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Cabinet’s decisions include financial aid for affected families, rental support, and immediate relief measures. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the creation of hundreds of new healthcare posts and significant amendments to mining regulations to promote sustainable practices and support local landowners.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet expressed condolences for the 55 lives lost in the cloudbursts affecting Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts on August 1, 2024.
The Cabinet decided to provide substantial support to the disaster-affected families, including a monthly rental assistance of Rs. 10,000 in urban areas and Rs. 5,000 in rural areas for those whose homes were entirely destroyed. Additionally, affected families will receive free ration, LPG refills, utensils, and bedding from August 1 to October 31, 2024. An immediate financial aid of Rs. 50,000 will also be granted to these families.
The Council of Ministers extended its support and financial aid to help the affected families, highlighting the state government’s commitment to recovery and rebuilding efforts.
