Shimla, Aug 26,
The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) has strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP from Mandi, regarding the farmers’ movement. In a recent interview with a Hindi daily, Ranaut labeled the movement as an “anti-national force,” suggesting it was backed by external entities and comparing it to a “colour revolution,” drawing parallels to events in Bangladesh.

In response, AIKS accused Ranaut of spreading falsehoods in an attempt to discredit the farmers’ protest, which was a mass movement against the government’s controversial pro-corporate Farm Laws. The organization emphasized that during the protests, which resulted in the martyrdom of 736 farmers, Ranaut was a vocal supporter of the contentious laws, aligning herself with corporate interests, notably those of Adani and Ambani.
AIKS further criticized Ranaut for her efforts to associate incidents of crime with the farmers’ protests, accusing her of denigrating the farming community, particularly its women. The organization underscored the historical significance of the farmers’ movement, drawing parallels to India’s anti-imperialist freedom struggle against British colonialism. They highlighted figures like Shaheed Bhagat Singh as symbols of resistance and asserted that groups like the RSS and Hindu Mahasabha, which they accused of betraying the freedom movement, have no moral authority to question the patriotism of India’s farmers.
AIKS has demanded that Kangana Ranaut retract her statements and issue an apology to the farmers. Additionally, they have called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize for his government’s role in the controversy surrounding the Farm Laws. The organization has also appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo moto cognizance of Ranaut’s remarks, arguing that her comments are aimed at creating discord and misleading the public against the farmers, warranting strict legal action.
The press release was signed by AIKS President Ashok Dhawale and General Secretary Vijoo Krishnan.
