Shimla, Dec 9,
In snow-line areas, particularly in Theog, Chopal, Kumarsain, and Dodeakawar, HRTC buses are not operating following the previous night’s snowfall. Reports on road conditions are awaited from Kupvi and Kharpathar. The administration is working to restore normal traffic conditions.
Schools to Remain Open as Snowfall does not disrupt Traffic
The Shimla district administration has confirmed that all educational institutions in the area will remain open on Monday, following light snowfall that coated the town on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap stated that vehicular traffic in the region has not been affected by the snowfall, and transportation remains smooth throughout the capital.
The light snowfall ended a three-month-long dry spell in the region, adding a picturesque winter charm to the town.
While the snowfall provided Shimla with a thin white blanket, it did not result in road blockages or significant disruptions.
“The movement of vehicles is normal, and there is no need to suspend school operations,” Kashyap said, addressing concerns raised by residents.
Monday’s weather remained largely clear, with occasional patches of cloud cover. The meteorological department has not issued any warnings, further reassuring the public of normal conditions.
However, the administration remains vigilant and has instructed relevant departments to be prepared for any potential weather changes in the coming days.
Local residents and tourists alike welcomed the snowfall, which not only broke the extended dry spell but also enhanced the scenic beauty of the hill town. Tourism officials reported an influx of visitors over the weekend, drawn by the snow-covered landscapes.
Educational institutions also expressed relief at the smooth operations, with many parents praising the administration’s prompt assessment of road conditions.
Authorities have assured that all essential services, including transportation and healthcare, are fully functional and equipped to handle any eventualities caused by weather changes.
This snowfall is being seen as a prelude to the peak winter season in Shimla, which is known for its heavy snowfall during December and January.
