Shimla, April 25, The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of HPSEBL Employees, Engineers & Pensioners observed Anti-Corruption Day on Friday at Vidyut Bhawan, Shimla-4 with a solemn pledge to uphold integrity and transparency in public service. On this occasion, hundreds of HPSEBL employees & engineers collectively took an oath that they would neither indulge in any form of corruption nor tolerate it, and would actively resist and report any such instances coming to their notice.
The day holds special significance as it coincides with the birth anniversary of Late Er. Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer, whose untimely and tragic demise in March 2025 under mysterious circumstances, and whose body was later recovered from Govind Sagar, Bilaspur on 18th March, 2025, deeply shocked the entire power sector fraternity.
The Joint Action Committee has expressed its firm belief that the prevailing environment of corruption at that time had adversely impacted the system, leading to circumstances that demand serious introspection and reform.
In his memory and as a mark of collective resolve, the JAC has decided to observe 24th April every year as Anti-Corruption Day in the power sector of Himachal Pradesh, to reinforce the commitment towards a clean and accountable system.
The JAC also informed that an Anti-Corruption Committee for the power sector had already been constituted under the leadership of Er. Suneel Grover who had also addressed employees. Strengthening this initiative further, the Committee was expanded today with the inclusion of Er. R.P.S. Sidhu, Sh. Sant Ram Sharma, and the elected General Secretary of the Himachal Power Engineers Association and HPSEB Employees Union.
Addressing the gathering, the leaders of the Joint Action Committee emphasized that corruption is rapidly spreading in the system and poses a serious threat to governance, development, and public trust. They stressed that this menace can only be curbed through collective vigilance, moral courage, and active participation of employees as well as the general public.
The JAC made a strong appeal to all employees of the power sector and the citizens of the state to come forward, raise their voice against corruption, and contribute towards building a transparent, accountable, and efficient system. It was highlighted that eradication of corruption would significantly accelerate the development of the state and strengthen democratic institutions.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by all present to work with honesty, dedication, and a sense of public duty.
The JAC expressed hope that the matter concerning Late Er. Vimal Negi, which is presently under consideration in the court of law, will result in justice for his family and that the accused, if any, will be brought to justice.
