Shimla, August 21
BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma appeared before the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) headquarters here on Friday for further questioning in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case.
Sharma, who arrived at the Vigilance headquarters accompanied by several BJP MLAs, was questioned in connection with FIR No. 0006/2026 registered at the SV&ACB police station, Dharamshala.
The BJP legislators accompanying Sharma included Satpal Singh Satti, Ashish Sharma, Balbir Verma, Trilok Jamwal, Vipin Parmar, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Dr Janak Raj and Rakesh Jamwal. Sharma and the legislators also addressed the media outside the Vigilance headquarters.
According to the SV&ACB, Sharma was questioned about his income, assets, investments, land transactions and expenditure during the relevant check period.
The investigating team also sought detailed information and documentary evidence relating to the construction and furnishing of Sharma’s residence at Rakkar. The Vigilance officials sought details of contractors and suppliers engaged for the work, the nature and value of construction and furnishing work, bills and invoices, payments made, dates and modes of payment and the corresponding banking or financial records.
The Bureau said Sharma did not furnish the names and particulars of the contractors engaged in the construction of the house.
According to the SV&ACB, replies on several material financial issues remained evasive and did not contain specific details that could be immediately verified. Sharma was therefore asked to furnish the requisite documents to enable investigators to verify his explanations against independent banking, taxation, property and other financial records.
The Vigilance Bureau said the investigation was continuing and reiterated that it would be conducted professionally and impartially in accordance with law, without being influenced by the status of any person involved or by any extraneous consideration.
