Shimla, Aug 22
Adl District and Sessions Judge-2, Shimla, convicted the accused, Udit Thakur, son of Sanjay Thakur, resident of Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh, age 22, in case number 07/2020, dated January 10, 2020, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Boileauganj, Shimla.
In the said case, a total of 5 grams of heroin (chitta) was recovered from the accused’s possession. During the investigation of the case, the police collected evidence scientifically and effectively and presented it to the prosecution.
Based on the available evidence and the arguments of the prosecution, the Honorable Court convicted the accused and sentenced him to 8 months’ rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 10,000. In case of non-payment of fine, the accused will have to undergo an additional rigorous imprisonment of one month.
Shimla Police is continuously taking effective action against drug trafficking and ensuring quality investigation and strong prosecution to ensure that the culprits are punished by the court in such cases.
