Shimla Skater Tejaswi Kuthiyala finishes Third in India, Eighth in Asia

Shimla Auckland House School student and young skater Tejaswi Kuthiyala has brought laurels to the city with an impressive performance at the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2026, held in Dehradun from August 17 to 20.
Competing in the 500-metre short track speed skating event, Tejaswi secured third position among Indian participants and eighth position overall in Asia, competing against some of the region’s promising skaters, informed a spokesperson of the school.
The international competition witnessed participation from skaters representing 14 Asian countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, besides India.
Tejaswi displayed impressive speed, technical ability, confidence and sporting spirit throughout the competition. Her performance is a reflection of her sustained training, discipline and dedication to short track speed skating.
Tejaswi is also a member of the Shimla Ice Skating rink, which has played an important role in nurturing her initial skating journey. The club congratulated her on the achievement, describing her performance at an international-level competition as a proud moment for Shimla’s skating fraternity. The club expressed confidence that her success would inspire more young skaters from the city to take up competitive ice skating and aim for higher levels of the sport.
