Shimla, May 12
State unit of left affiliate trade union, CITU stated today that around 15000 workers who belonged to 75 industries are living without bread and butter as they are not getting wages during the lock-down. This was stated by the CITU state president Vajinder Mehra and secretary Prem Gautam in a memorandum submitted State Labour Commissioner.
They alleged that around 2815 workers belonged to Bajoli -Holi Hydropower Project of Chamba district are not getting wages since Nov 2019 till April 2020 which is sheer violation of labour law. CITU said that out of these workers 885 belonged M/s Gaiman 210 of M/s GMR, 163 of M/s Fitwell, , 63 of M/s Taxmaco, 1442 of PRW construction unit.
They said that only 1500 workers have registered under the labour welfare board however power project handed over the list of only 1284 workers to the Labour commissioner so far. He said that about 1331 workers of the project are not entered in the labour records. Raising question mark on Rs 2000 handed over to construction and building workers by the Jai Ram Government they said that since the firms did not enrol them under the labour welfare schemes therefore getting the benefit of scheme was beyond apprehension.
Further, they said that 120 workers belonged to Eastbourne Hotel and have also not been paid from Jan to April 2020. About 12 workers of hotel Dalziel, 11 of of hotel Mahamaya and nine of Taj Palace have also not been paid for the month of March and April so far.
CITU leader alleged that 80 workers belonged to Solid Waste Management Plant Bharyal of Shimla Municipal Corporation were not getting their salaries of month of Mar and April.
Similarly thousands of workers of seven group of Microtech Solan including Himachal Power Products,Tangent Power Products, MIL Power product, Balaji Power products and Kamla Power products did not get wages for month of April. Even workers of Anushpa Hurtal Power Ltd and Micro turner ltd., Milestone Gears pvt ltd, Isolide, Kamala Dail, and Devices ltd Nobal electronics ltd. JLS Technology,Maple Technology and Adhunik Peckarge ltd are without pay since month of March, he informed.
About 450 workers of Ravi Textile of Solan district at Nalagarh 320 workers of Persian tools pvt ltd, 120 workers belonged to Hill Top Silver Barotiwala and 1000 workers of Steel Bird pvt ltd Barotiwala are not paid for the month of Mar and April .
Trade union said that 160 workers of Isolide Engineer pvt ltd , 1100 of Ambuja Cement Plant Darlaghat, 1200 of Ultra Tech Cement Plant Baga Bhalag , 65 workers of DPS School Dagshai, 70 of BL Public School Solan and 120 of Assistant Pharma did not get their wages for month of April.
“The allegedly named firms are violating labour norms and Labour Commissioner is expected to take action against them,” demanded CITU leaders charging state government to be working in favour of big industrial houses. Such firms cannot violate labour norms despite clear directions from the state Government to not stop wages of workers during the lock down, they added.
