Shimla, March 1
Himachal Pradesh Police is organizing the 22nd All India Police Water Sports Championship from March 2nd to 6 this year at Androli in district Una informed a spokesperson.
It is the first ever water-sports National level championship being held in the State at Androli in Una district.
Teams of sportspersons are arriving from the entire country, he informed. Total 460 participants from 19 organizations (State Police and Central Police organizations) are participating in this event. This includes 10 teams of women sports persons. These teams will compete in two Rowing, three Canoeing and three Kayaking competitions.
The police claimed that this venue has been testified by most experts in the field of water sports as one of the finest in the country. The theme chosen for the meet is “Experience the waters of Himachal”.
“Himachal Pradesh is blessed with a number of rivers and several large water bodies and there is tremendous potential for water sports in the State,” they stated. Adding that, H.P. Police hopes that this event shall give a huge fillip to this untapped potential of the State,” hoped the police spokesperson.
The opening ceremony shall be presided over by the Deputy Chief Minister, HP, Mukesh Agnihotri on 2ndMarch, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The famous Himachal Pradesh Police Orchestra i.e. “Harmony of the Pines” will showcase a musical performance on 3rd March, 2023 at Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra, Una, added the spokesperson.
Vikramaditya Singh, PWD and Youth Services & Sports Minister, Himachal Pradesh would preside over the closing ceremony of this event on 6th March, 2023.
