The all weather Rohtang Tunnel has been closed after snowfall on the South and North portal disrupting vehicular traffic on the both sides. A police spokesman said that south portal recorded 30 cm, North portal 15 cm snow.
A police advisory said that it is snowing in district Lahaul and Spiti due to which all the roads including Rohtang Tunnel are currently closed for all types of vehicles. Local people and tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Along-with, all higher reaches of the State are also experiencing fresh snowfall and light rain is lashing lower hills in the state. The gateway of Lahaul-Spiti district Rohtang pass, lady of Keylong, Goshal hill, Kinner Kailash and Kinnaur also recorded a moderate spell of snowfall. The met department said in a press release issued here today that Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti has recorded 5.8 cm snowfall, Losar five cm, Keylong four cm, Gondla three cm and Kalpa 0.2 cm in Kinnuar district.
Tourist resort Dalhousie (Chamba) recorded 10 mm rain, Manali & Bhuntar in Kullu four mm each. At the time of filing the report it was partly to mainly cloudy in the state. Minimum temperature remained at freezing point in the high reaches by one to degrees compared to yesterday. The minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 2.3 degrees,tourist resort Dalhousie & Kalpa 2 degrees, tourist favourite Kufri 4.5, Shimla 8, Hamirpur 10, Una 12, Solan 8.8, Mandi 5.7, Chamba 11.1, Kangra 13, Dharamshala 8.4.
In the next 24 hours rain and snow is likely to occurred in a few places on the high reaches and isolated places of the state in the next 24 hours.
