Shimla, May 25
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a rally in Hamipur, delivered a strong critique of the Congress party and its leaders, while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and highlighting its achievements in Himachal Pradesh. Shah criticized Rahul Gandhi, referred to as “Rahul Baba,” for his frequent holidays and his decision to skip the consecration of Ram Lalla, suggesting that this decision was driven by fear of losing their vote bank.
Shah also mocked the opposition’s lack of a clear prime ministerial candidate, ridiculing the idea proposed by Rahul Gandhi of having a new prime minister each year, comparing it to running a grocery shop rather than managing a country of 140 crore people.
Contrasting this, Shah highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication, noting that Modi has not taken any leave for 23 years, even celebrating Diwali with soldiers on the border. This dedication, Shah argued, underscores the stark difference between the leadership of Modi and Rahul Gandhi.
Shah praised the local MP Anurag Thakur, who is seeking re-election for the fifth time, and detailed the central projects granted by the Modi government to Himachal Pradesh, which exceed Rs 10,000 crore. These projects, Shah noted, are evidence of the government’s commitment to the state’s development. He emphasized the significant investment in infrastructure, healthcare, and education, aiming to uplift the region’s overall quality of life.
The Union Home Minister did not spare the present Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, labeling it as “false and useless.” He accused the Congress of failing to fulfill any of the promises made in their first cabinet meeting, such as providing one lakh rupees, Rs 1500 to women, and purchasing cow dung. Shah’s speech aimed to highlight the perceived inefficacy and untrustworthiness of the Congress administration, positioning the BJP as the more reliable and action-oriented alternative.
Anurag Thakur, addressing the rally, echoed Shah’s sentiments and sought the support of the people for the upcoming election. He emphasized the need for continued development and the importance of having a government that delivers on its promises.
Notably, Shah’s speech was a robust endorsement of Narendra Modi’s leadership and a critique of the Congress party. By focusing on development projects and the government’s dedication to serving the people, Shah sought to galvanize support for the BJP, underscoring the importance of strong, consistent leadership in ensuring the country’s progress and security.
