Mandi, Oct 28,

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of deceiving the public and halting development by withholding payments to contractors.

BJP State Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal said the Chief Minister’s claims of clearing all contractor payments before Diwali were “a blatant lie.” He alleged that contractors across the state have stopped work due to non-payment, leaving several projects incomplete. “The government’s financial condition is bankrupt. The treasury is closed, bills are pending, and departments are unable to make any payments,” he charged.

Jamwal added that the Sukhu government has completely lost fiscal discipline, while projects under MLA funds are stuck in treasuries. “This government is not running the administration—it’s running a propaganda machine. The gap between the Chief Minister’s words and actions has eroded public trust,” he said.

The BJP spokesperson further accused the government of using the Disaster Act and poor road conditions as an excuse to delay panchayat elections. “Roads damaged during the 2023 disaster are still in ruins. Rural Himachal remains disconnected from development,” he said.

He alleged that the Congress government is discriminating against contractors who worked during the previous BJP rule, which could trigger a rise in arbitration cases. “Such political vendetta will create chaos and further weaken the state’s economy,” he warned.

Jamwal said the BJP would soon launch a statewide campaign against the Congress government’s “false promises, stalled projects, and economic mismanagement.” He added, “The people of Himachal now want an end to this incompetent and deceitful government that has turned the state into a symbol of stagnation and crisis.”
