The ruling BJP in a major development today took away the ticket from Maheswar Singh, founder of Himachal Lokhit Party in Kullu assembly constituency. Party removing him from race today backed Narotam Thakur a novice. The retired school teacher of Manikaran valley in Kullu, has filed nomination at Kullu on last day, today.
Maheshwar Singh who is scion of Kullu Sultanpur royal dynasty was earlier declared party official candidate and filed nomination, would now be in fray as independent candidate.
Reason
Party said that son of former HLP leader, Hiteshwar Singh decided to file nomination from Banjar against sitting MLA Surender Shourie. Therefore, the party decided to remove Maheshwar Singh from race as his son stood, rebel against party official candidate.
In Kullu, Maheshwar Singh Thakur was defeated by Congress MLA Sunder Singh Thakur in 2017. In 2012 Maheshwar Singh broke out from the Saffron party to form a political outfit and could win only his seat in the pursuit.
