In a tragic accident that occurred on Friday in the old bus stand of Shimla, a woman died after being hit by an HRTC bus. Another person was also seriously injured in the accident.
While creating ruckus, the driver of the bus hit another bus and a bike and a car parked at the taxi stand. After the accident, the accused bus driver fled from the spot. The police have taken the accused bus driver Praveen Kumar, into custody. A case has been registered against him in Sadar Police Station Shimla.
The scene unfolded when a HRTC electric bus went out of control and hit another bus parked at the exit gate of the bus stand in which two passengers including a woman standing there got hit. One woman died among them.
The deceased woman has been identified as 48-year-old Radha resident of Junga Shimla. Meanwhile, the injured person Bhagat Ram (58) is a serving employee of HRTC.
Eyewitnesses present at the bus stand said that HRTC’s parked bus coming from behind hit by the electric HRTC bus.
The collision was so strong that the parked bus was dragged forward and collided with the railing ahead.
SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that at old bus of Shimla a woman died in an accident. He said that a uncontrolled Electric bus caused the accident.
The bus driver was immediately suspended by the HRTC management. Driver Praveen Thakur is from Sarkaghat in Mandi district.He has been working in HRTC for about 12 years. Earlier to this he was served in Rohru and Keylong depot of HRTC.
Regional Manager Vinod Sharm said that Rs 25000 Immediate relief was paid to the family of the woman who lost her life.
