Shimla, Sept 3,
Continuous heavy rainfall and landslides have thrown normal life out of gear across several parts of Himachal Pradesh, leaving behind a trail of destruction and grief. Expressing solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones in the calamity, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the tragedy is a deeply painful moment for the entire state in a social media message.
The Chief Minister noted that the situation remains grim in many regions. In Kinnaur’s Wangtoo area, falling boulders caused major damage to vehicles stranded at a block point. Overflowing rivers and streams have worsened the crisis, damaging several roads, while fresh reports of landslides continue to emerge.
Relief and rescue operations are underway on a war footing, with government agencies and disaster response teams working round-the-clock. Sukhu said he is personally in constant touch with district officials to monitor the ground situation.
Issuing a public advisory, the Chief Minister urged citizens to strictly follow all safety directions released by the administration. He appealed to people to avoid visiting risky spots and to refrain from unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
Noteworthy that so far this monsoon 341 people have lost life, 389 injured, 41 missing and 27667 animals lost. Total financial loss amounts to Rs 3,52, 54 lacs.
