Communist party of India Marxist today decided to field former Deputy Mayor in the fray from Shimla urban assembly constituency. The party Secretary Dr Onkar Shad said in a press release issued here today that former deputy mayor of Shimla Tikender Singh Panwar would be the party candidate from Shimla urban.
Worthwhile to mention that Panwar has a strong hold among party cadres and has deep penitration across section of society and high regard among political opponents.
Panwar plunged into the public life from student politics. Panwar hails from peasentary class belongs to Dharmpur area of Solan district.
He was elected as Deputy Mayor along with party Mayor Sanjay Chauhan in a direct poltical contest on party symbol in 2012. Pertinent to mention here, that, whereby he won the deputy mayor poll by getting 20 thousand plus votes, but later, during his stint as Deputy Mayor he lost assembly poll and got lesser votes. However he completed his term in office of deputy Mayor till end of tenure in 2017.
After joining the current poll contet Tikender Singh Panwar has made the battle triangular and interesting in the capital town Shimla. He is being projected as a strong candidate viz.a.viz other two main poltical probable rivals of town.
Panwar was currently posted as whole timer with central party office at Delhi. While talking about candidature he stated that, was not keen to contest however strong demand by local.party cadres has pushed him into the contest.
Panwar has been leading a front against corruption and had exposed the ruling BJP government for misuse of public funds.
