A one-day workshop on the Income Tax Act, 1961, was conducted at the Himachal Pradesh Forest Academy, Sundernagar, for deputy forest range officers and accountants from various forest circles. The session, organized on Thursday, aimed to enhance understanding of key tax provisions, particularly Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Tax Collected at Source (TCS).
Officials from the Income Tax Department, Government of India, led the workshop, providing crucial insights into tax compliance. Mandi district income tax officers Amarjeet Sharma and Rajendra Singh delivered detailed presentations on TDS and TCS, while inspectors Sandeep Rehlan, Sunita Thakur, and Aditya Shukla shared practical tips on various aspects of the Income Tax Act.
The workshop was inaugurated by Deputy Director of the Academy, Devendra Singh Dogra, with a ceremonial lamp lighting. Superintendent of the Project Management Unit, Shimla, Pawan Barar, extended a warm welcome to the participants. Program Manager for Audit and Finance, Arvind Verma, and accountant Narendra Kanwar were also present at the session.
Officials from Mandi, Kullu, Dharamshala, Hamirpur, Wildlife Shimla, and the Great Himalayan National Park attended the workshop, making it a significant initiative in strengthening financial compliance within the forestry sector.
