Deserted roads and fuel queues: Shimla grapples with truckers strike fallout

Truckers strike in North India seems to have created fuel crisis affecting transport services in the state on Tuesday. Petrol pumps in many places are dry as fuel is not getting transported from Ambala and other Stations.
Gopal Thakur residents of Rampur said that petrol pump at Jathiadevi, Hiranagar and Shimla Barrier are dry as no supply is coming to state due to Truck and Tankers operators strike. Also on some petrol Pumps where fuel is available, long queues of vehicles can be witnessed.
A petrol pump owner informed this afternoon, that fuel was available at his pump, but long queues were noted.
According to a driver of a pick up chakajam call of trucks has been given following amendment in the newly enacted Bharatiya Nayay Sahita.
On tuesday the roads of the capital wore a deserted look today, as most of vehicle private and public remained off the road. Reportedly a high level meeting was conducted by the government to manage the traffic.
A private bus driver also informed that on Wednesday all private buses will remain on Chakajam in protest of the new laws. Noteworthy that on Tuesday also only those private buses were seen plying on roads who had some reserved quote of fuel.
