The South West Monsoon system turned weak after having deficient rain fall in last three days despite issuance of a yellow alert. The Met Office said that state has recorded 41.6 mm of rain, which is 35 percent less than normal, from July 18 to July 24 amidst warning of heavy rain.
In rainy season Kinnaur, the tribal district of the state, has recorded the lowest rainfall of 73 per cent. Lahaul-Spiti has received 72 pc( less) rain. Bilaspur and Chamba have 20 pc, Hamirpur 27 pc, Kangra 31 pc, Kullu 24, Mandi 27, Kangra 31 pc, Shimla 35 pc, Sirmaur 53 pc, Solan 21 pc and Una 25 pc percent less rain.
Even though there may have been less rain in the state last week, but the graph of loss due to rain has only grown steady. So far, movable and immovable property worth Rs 427.76 crore has been damaged due to monsoon in the state. Loss have occurred tune to Rs 297.50 crore to Public Works Department and Rs 114.93 crore to Jal Shakti Department. During this, 187 houses have been damaged, 146 cowsheds have collapsed in rain water, 93 cattle have been killed.
On Monday, the Solang village of Kullu district was cut off from terrestrial connection after washing down of a temporary bridge after cloud burst in Sari rivlut of Palchan Patwar Circle early today. This further increased the level of water in Beas River.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in the plains and medium altitude areas of the state for 3 days from today, while an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain on July 28. The department has also issued warning of very heavy rainfall and flood in Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba.
