In the past few days for disinfection purpose different types of spray tunnels are being installed at various locations. In a circular issued by National Health mission it has been stated that as per World Health organization (WHO) guidelines spraying disinfectants like alcohol, and chlorine all over the body does not kill the virus rather it can be harmful for cloths and mucous membrane. Hypochlorite solution is recommended for disinfection of surface and instruments, it stated.
“Moreover this infection tunnels will create a false sense of security and people may be diverted from hand wash to disinfectant tunnel,” stated the circular. Adding,”Under the current circumstance, it is recommended that disinfection tunnel should not be installed and used on human beings,” stated the directive by Additional Chief secretary Health.
