Earthquake strikes Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, sends tremors to Himachal Pradesh

A significant earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 rattled the region earlier today, sending tremors across neighboring Himachal Pradesh. The quake struck at 13:33:42 IST (Indian Standard Time) and had a focal depth of 6 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the town of Doda, situated next to Chamba of HP. The epicentre was situated at 33.15 degrees north latitude and 75.82 degrees east longitude. This seismic event has caused widespread alarm and minor disruptions in the affected areas.
Reports indicate that residents in Doda and nearby regions experienced strong shaking, causing some buildings to sway and people to rush outdoors in a state of panic. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage. Local authorities have dispatched emergency response teams to assess the situation and provide assistance if necessary.
The impact of the earthquake was also felt in parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Chamba, Kangra, Hamirpur Bilaspur, Una and Punjab which experienced jolts and tremors. This seismic activity serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of geological events and their potential to affect distant regions.
Earthquakes are not uncommon in this seismically active zone, as the Indian subcontinent is situated on several tectonic plates, resulting in frequent seismic activity. The region experiences periodic tremors, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
