Shimla, Oct 1,
The Himachal Pradesh Government has appointed Prabodh Saxena, IAS (HP: 1990), as the new Chairman of the HP State Electricity Board Ltd. (HPSEBL) in Shimla. The appointment is for a term of three years, effective from the date he takes charge.
Significantly, the government order, dated September 30, 2025, states that Saxena’s new post will be equivalent in rank, status, and responsibility to the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
He will function under the overall administrative control and supervision of the Chief Minister. This move follows Saxena’s recent retirement as the Chief Secretary and places him at the helm of the state’s main power utility.
Noteworthy that Saxena extension as Chief Secratery has been challenged in the High Court. Even his candidature for Chairman position in HP State Electricity Regulatory Commission is under high court lens as next date of hearing in the matter is October 13.
