A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Police Station Sadar, Shimla, against a Dharamshala based web portal for allegedly posting defamatory content aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Congress leaders. The complaint was lodged by Sandeep Aukta, a resident of Kusumpti, Shimla.
According to Aukta’s complaint, on October 8, while he was browsing his phone on Mall Road, Shimla, he came across an article uploaded by the web portal. The article, allegedly false and concocted, blamed the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, for the party’s recent defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections. Aukta claimed that the content was published with malicious intent to harm the reputation of Congress leaders.

The FIR, registered under Sections 336(4) and 61(2) of the BNS Act, accuses the web portal of misleading its users and fabricating false information to defame party leaders. The police have begun an investigation into the matter, with the case being handled by Sadar Police Station.
The non-bailable offense under Section 336(4) of the BNS Act has raised concerns within the Congress party, with party workers accusing the portal of conspiring to damage the party’s image. The web portal is based in Dharamshala, and further legal action is expected following the ongoing investigation.
