Two separate avalanches hit public and private properties in Lahaul Spiti district and Kinnaur in past 24 hours after heavy snowfall in the state, report of many avalanches also reported in the Lahaul Spiti district blocking the flow of Chanderbhaga river, district administration informed here today.
First incident of avalanche occurred near Tandi Bridge under Lahaul subdivision few shops buried under the iceberg. So far no information of loss of human life was reported.
Report received from district emergency response unit Kinnaur another avalanche came down from the mounted snowy hil at Karcham Helipad under Sangla subdivision of bordering area of Kinnaur district.
Report said that avalanche also disrupted movement of vehicular traffic on the Old Hindustan Tibet NH-05. The administration has requisitioned snow cutter to clear the avalanche and restoration work is under process.
The Indian Meteorological department has issued Red alert of Windstorm, Avalanche and heavy to very heavy rain and snowfall in the state.
Police control room Keylong confirmed that flow of Chanderbhaga river blocked by couple of iceberg as heavy snowfall is continue in the district since last two days
Official said that intermittent avalanche are coming down from sloping hills between the villages Jasrath and Jobarg. He said that avalanches are falling into the River due to which the flow has stopped.
Police cautioned the residents of Jobrang, Rape, Jasrath, Tadang Thirot etc. villages adjacent to the Chanderbhaga and Chenab River to keep away from the inflated river.
Citizens are cautioned to be careful and in case of any emergency, the nearest police police post or station should be informed immediately.
The State administration has issued advisory that inclement weather including heavy rain and snowfall may cause disruptions of essential services viz. water and electricity, communications and related services. Visibility Conditions very likely to decrease.
There is a possibility of avalanches at isolated places in the districts of Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahul & Spiti. The State government also cautioned the respective district administration and department to issued advisories and guidelines issued to ensure adequate safety of life and property in the prevailing rough weather in the hill state.
